Actually that's not too bad (as compared to the ridiculous BMW 15K drain interval), and they are able to get it in the shop today. But it's a Mini, so somehow they will end up trying to make this expensive. So have an old BMW drinking up another quart.
And then I have to do the BMW this month as well. But it has a better excuse, which is that it goes on track.

Try owning an N54/55 or any of the recent BMW turbo'd engines. Fuckers drink oil like it's going out of style.

The BMW/Peugeot N18 turbo in the Mini does have to be watched.
Not as awful as the turbo 6s. At least for my BMW Inline 6, it's naturally aspirated.

BMW 15k OCI is BMW trying to get into your wallet earlier. Stick to 5k OCIs no matter what and your car (and your wallet) will thank you

20W50 and it still drinks oil. Wow.

hahah I was about to say that isn't bad at all compared to my N54
Mine needs a quart every 2500, and my engine isn't leaking anywhere

8k between oil changes? I know it's possible on newer engines, but I still prefer 5k or lower intervals in my older stuff, I've even done 500 mile intervals on my Rambler due to blow-by on the #6 cylinder diluting the oil so bad at one point.

Same here. N54, like clockwork the "add oil" message will come on every 2500-3000 miles. And that's "perfectly normal" per BMW and the BMW crowd. Weird.

Mini/BMW only pay for an oil change on the maintenance plan if the car explicitly calls for it on Condition Based Service.
Their current interval on new cars is 15,000mls/1 year.
I actually hit this one on time, since the car was built June of 2013 and I bought it new December of 2013.
